Benue: COAS assures Gov Alia of troops’ commitment to tackling insecurity

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army troops to decisively tackle security challenges experienced in some parts of Benue and contiguous states.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations, in a statement, said the COAS gave the assurance in Government House Markudi when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State.

Lagbaja appreciated the Governor, government and people of Benue for the existing cordial relationship between the State and the Nigerian Army.

Responding, Alia appreciated the efforts and sacrifices of the troops in maintaining peace in the State and assured of his administration’s continued support to enhance troops’ operational efficiency in the protection of lives and property.

In another development, the COAS undertook a working visit to 4 Special Forces Command of the Nigerian Army in Doma, Nasarawa State.

While addressing the troops in Doma, the Army Chief commended them for their resilience and selflessness in serving the nation. He urged them to uphold the highest standard of professionalism in discharging their statutory duties.

The COAS, who toured facilities at the Nigerian Army Barracks Doma, assured troops of the effort of the Federal Government and the Army High Command to improve infrastructural amenities and provide combat enablers for the optimal performance of their roles.
